New law 'various provisions in healthcare' by Minister F. Vandenbroucke

December 4, 2023

This recently implemented government law (published on 13/11/2023) prohibits radiology services in hospitals from charging supplements for CT and MRI scans for non-hospitalized patients during office hours (8 am - 6 pm).

Supplements for CT and MRI scans will now only be charged in the evenings, on weekends, and on public holidays.

For other medical imaging tests (X-rays, ultrasounds, mammograms, interventional radiology, etc.), there is no change: the fee supplements will still be charged during weekday office hours.

This new law has led to a reorganization of radiology services. Unfortunately, this also results in unwanted practical implications for the patients.

When scheduling an MRI scan outside office hours (6 pm - 8 am), you will be required to provide your written consent regarding the requested supplements when filling out the medical questionnaire before the examination.

Below is a general overview of the fee supplements. These supplements are charged in addition to the statutory co-payments.

The fee supplements are intended to compensate for various non-refundable costs. As a service, we aim to continue providing you with the best possible care using the most high-quality, cutting-edge equipment, and highly trained personnel.
